Eagles lose by three to Owens
Clark State men’s basketball team will play non-conference Southern State Community College Tuesday night at 7:00 p.m.
The Eagle’s dropped tough fought game to Owens Saturday afternoon. MEN The Clark State men lost 90-87 to Owens after leading 48-43at halftime.
Clark State is 6-10 overall and 2-6 in the OCCAC, while Owens is 12-7 overall and 6-2 in the OCCAC.
The Express came out cold in the second half shooting only 35 percent from the field, but more specifically only 1-for-11 from behind the arc for only nine percent.
“We had so many wide open looks in the second half, but the lid was tight and that took its toll,” Owens coach Rick Hickman said.
Korey Joyner had 21 points and two assists, while Elmer Rucker had 20 points and Isaiah Williams had 15 points. Clark State was 31 of 68 from the floor for 46 percent, including 12 of 22 from behind the arc for 55 percent.
The Express made 13 of 16 free throws for 81 percent. The battle of the boards was even with 28 apiece and Owens had 12 turnovers to Clark State’s 9.
